As parents we have to pick and choose our battles. Schoolwork was always one of those battlegrounds in my house.
The binders were a mess. Papers were falling out. There was no sequence or order to the ones that were in there. Homework was always done but where did it wind up in the bottomless pit of the backpack. Where’s My Stuff? The Ultimate Teenage Organizing Guide by Samantha Ross and Lesley Schwartz may be just what you need to help.
This book is written for the kids. It is divided into 3 sections: organizing school stuff, organizing time and activities and organizing your room. Choices are given for how to set things up so the child can choose a system that will work best for them. An easy step-by-step process is then outlined. It’s filled with pictures, charts and a sense of humor.
It opens by asking – why bother? What’s the deal with being organized? “Getting organized is not just about finding your missing homework or placating your angry parents. Its about the quality of your life… when the whole setup works for you and not against you life just goes more smoothly.”
